Short Story Illustration This art class will teach students the grammar and logic stages of art, specifically through the process of short story illustration. They will learn how to develop their perception skills as they practice drawing from observation and they will practice all the techniques and elements of art that go into making a great illustration. Then they will choose the best moment (scene) in their story and I will guide them through the process of effectively completing their illustration by the end of the course. Each week we will analyze illustrations from popular book illustrators. Some of the subject matter we will practice drawing is the human figure, landscapes and objects from real life. Students may suggest subject matter to practice in class that relates to their story.
This class is not scheduled at this time, but please fill out the form, to the left, if you are interested in a future class or email me at brooksartclass@gmail.com. |
Location
Unless otherwise noted, classes are held in my art studio at my home in Serra Mesa, a community of San Diego, California. During class, parents and siblings are welcome to stay downstairs to study in the dining room as long as it is not distracting to the class. However, we do have a cat and it may not be pleasant for allergy sufferers. The art studio is a CAT FREE ZONE just in case your child does have allergies. Also, there are two libraries about a mile from my house: Serra Mesa and Mission Valley. So you can leave your students with me if you wish.
