Studio Art Classes for 5-8 year olds
The Fundamentals of Art class, for 5-8 year old's, will teach students the grammar stage of art with an emphasis on practicing the elements of art (line, shape, pattern, texture, color, and value) in a fun drawing or painting application specifically designed for this age group. Students will strengthen their hand-eye coordination as they learn how to draw from observation more accurately.
I believe kids do their best artwork in a non-competitive classroom environment that is upbeat, lighthearted, fun and inspiring. There is no pressure to create masterpieces at this level since we are working in the grammar stage, so the emphasis will be on practicing the elements of art over and over and over, like memory work.
2016-17 School Year:
This class will be meeting on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, from 1:00-2:30, during the Classical Conversations Class Day at New Life Presbyterian Church in La Mesa. The cost is $90 for 12 weeks, beginning August 30th.
Please contact me if you are interested in this class by filling out the form to the left or by email at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Unless otherwise noted, classes are held in my art studio at my home in Serra Mesa, a community of San Diego, California. During class, parents and siblings are welcome to stay downstairs to study in the dining room as long as it is not distracting to the class. However, we do have a cat and it may not be pleasant for allergy sufferers. The art studio is a CAT FREE ZONE just in case your child does have allergies. Also, there are two libraries about a mile from my house: Serra Mesa and Mission Valley. So you can leave your students with me if you wish.
